A classic Rioja with a fresh and elegant character. It's one of the many gems the Marques de Riscal winery boasts. Their years of expertise have resulted in wines of exceptional quality. This characteristic Rioja Reserva, for example, boasts a warm aroma and a full, rich flavor.

Manual harvest for Rioja Reserva

The Marques de Riscal winery is one of the oldest in Rioja. Over the years, the winery has grown internationally and has won numerous awards and recognitions. This also guarantees the quality of this specific Rioja wine. This wine is made entirely from the Tempranillo grape, a grape of which the Spanish are very proud. Thanks to its long history, the winery possesses some of the most coveted vineyards in the region. The vines are positioned to optimally benefit from the warm sun.

When the grapes are fully ripe and have developed their desired characteristics, the grapes are harvested entirely by hand. Once arrived at the winery, the grapes are rigorously sorted and destemmed. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature, and finally, the wine is aged for 24 months in American oak. This allows the Rioja Reserva to develop its distinctive aroma and flavor.

The taste experience of Marques de Riscal Reserva

And the result is impressive. Upon pouring, we immediately enjoy a rich and warm aroma. Plenty of dark fruit blends with the aroma of spices, a hint of vanilla, and a touch of vanilla. The latter comes from the long oak aging. From the first sip, you immediately enjoy a full-bodied and rich wine. Flavors of cherries, blackberries, and plums are clearly evident. But you also taste hints of chocolate, oak, tobacco, and ripe spices. A wonderfully versatile wine that offers excellent value.
This Vintage from Champagne Deutz is a true powerhouse; only the very best harvests can produce a vintage! This is because all the grapes for this Champagne must come from a single, special harvest year. This vintage was such an ultimate and perfect year. The Deutz winemakers agreed halfway through the growing season that if this continues, it will be one of the finest vintages ever. This Brut Vintage is made with three well-known grape varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Meunier, grown in Deutz's own vineyards. At ideal ripeness, the grapes are harvested and vinified separately by varietal. The harvest is gathered entirely by hand and transported in small crates to the press in the Champagne Deutz winery.

How long does a bottle of Deutz Brut Vintage mature?

After the harvest, the blend is first determined by Champagne Deutz's master blender, a process that takes weeks to achieve perfection. Every morning at 11:00 a.m., Deutz starts with a whole team, including Jean Marc, to taste the new blends. Jean Marc, the man behind Champagne Deutz, has the final say in the Champagne before it is stored for a long time in the cellars. This Brut Vintage is aged for an impressive five to six years in Champagne Deutz's magnificent cellars. During this period, he develops its mousse, translated into Dutch, its bubbles, and of course, its wealth of rich flavors. After all, a vintage Champagne is always richer and fuller in its aroma and taste.

What does the Deutz Brut Vintage Champagne taste like?

This Deutz Vintage is a true celebration. As soon as the Champagne cork is gently removed from the bottle, releasing its familiar feminine "sigh," you'll immediately notice a full and powerful aroma of white fruit, citrus, toast, freshly baked bread, and vanilla. The delicate bubbles permeate the glass, giving the tongue a beautiful and pleasant tingle. On the palate, it's even more powerful than the aroma, with a richness of yellow fruit and a nice touch of toast and vanilla. The back of the palate offers a range of impressions, including citrus fruit, marmalade, lemon zest, and brioche. The finish is intense and phenomenal.
This Magnum is a double bottle, holding 1.5 liters. For Blanc Ivoire, the Chenin Blanc comes from plots with a subsoil of schist and loamy, sandy clay, with approximately 35% clay and a high proportion of red schist gravel in the topsoil. At a depth of 35 centimeters, weathered schist emerges, contributing to the distinct, mineral signature of this Anjou Blanc. Upon arrival, they are slowly and gently pressed in a pneumatic press to extract only the purest juice. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in 500-liter oak barrels, approximately 20% of which are new, allowing the wood to subtly fade into the background. The wine then matures for 12 months in barrels without racking, on its fine yeast layer, which adds roundness and complexity. The vineyards are located on the plains surrounding the city, on soils of clay and typical "terra rossa," a red earth rich in iron, with a calcareous subsoil beneath. The vines are planted as spalliera , a form of wire-supported vines that allows the grapes to receive plenty of sun and ripen well. The vineyards of Cantine Pliniana are located entirely in this area and are almost entirely devoted to red grape varieties, with Primitivo as the absolute star. The harvest for Juvenis takes place in September, when the grapes are perfectly ripe but still retain their freshness.

Vinification and maturation

After entering the cellar, the Primitivo grapes for Juvenis are rigorously selected to ensure only healthy and ripe fruit is fermented. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, a method that helps preserve the ripe fruit aromas and color. The wine then continues to age in tanks, allowing the aromas to develop and the structure to become round and harmonious, without the oak overpowering the flavors. The alcohol content is around 14%, which perfectly complements the ripe style and full mouthfeel of this Primitivo di Manduria.

Grape composition

Juvenis 2022 is made entirely from Primitivo di Manduria, so 100% Primitivo from the Manduria region of origin.

Tasting notes and serving suggestions

In the glass, Juvenis 2022 is a deep ruby red with purple glints along the rim. The nose immediately reveals ripe red and black fruit, with notes reminiscent of wild blackberry, ripe raspberry, and other ripe fruit flavors. The palate is full and smooth, with abundant ripe fruit in the middle, a rounded structure, and a harmonious, inviting finish. The tannins are present yet ripe, ensuring the wine remains supple and the finish is warm and generous. Serve Juvenis preferably between 16 and 18°C (60-64°F) and, for best results, decant it an hour before serving. At the table, this Primitivo di Manduria is particularly at home with grilled red meat, lamb dishes, rich stews, game, and robust, aged cheeses.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0594/9358/0879/files/CantinaPlinianaJuvenisPrimitivodiManduriaDOP2022.webp?v=1768920543
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0594/9358/0879/collections/Gemini_Generated_Image_agwmjjagwmjjagwm.png?v=1766155643
