Six winegrower friends started their joint winery in the town of Acerzena. Each friend brought in their vineyards and shared their winemaking knowledge. This quickly proved to be a success, and today this Italian winery produces exquisite wines, including this red Pipoli. After so many years, their success has only grown, and they've built a state-of-the-art winery. According to the friends, nature is important, but so are knowledge and modern techniques to achieve true success.

Wood bearing for the Pipoli Aglianico del vulture

The old vineyards for this red wine are found in the Municipalities of Acerenza and Barile e Maschito. Here, the climate is perfect for the red Aglianico grape. Plenty of sunshine gives the grapes strength and sufficient sugar. The cool wind and falling nighttime temperatures ensure a consistent growing season. Once the grapes reach full ripeness, they are harvested entirely by hand. Each Aglianico bunch is inspected, and only the finest are used in this red Pipoli wine. After the first pressing, forty percent of the wine is aged in French oak barrels. This is crucial for the Aglianico grape, as it imparts strength, suppleness, and richness in both aroma and flavor.

Full and very powerful this red Pipoli Aglianico

The six friends shared a love for making wine when they jointly founded the Vigneti del Vulture winery.

The fun begins the moment you open the bottle, because once the cap is off, you can smell the Italian sun. Plenty of blackberries, cherries, and light spices greet you. Pouring reveals a beautiful deep red color with a hint of purple. Nosing the glass reveals even more red and black fruit, as well as vanilla and sweet spices. The palate is truly full of the Aglianico grape, with a richness of blackcurrant and jam complemented by the right spices and a hint of balsamic.
This white Pipoli wine is made by the Vigneti del Vulture winery, founded by six friends. All the wine friends owned the finest vineyards in and around the town of Acerzena in Basilicata. The vineyards are located in the heel of the boot and are all planted in the old soil on the best slopes of this wine region. The friends' idea was to share their knowledge and experience in a single winery. It proved a success, as Pipoli wines are known for their strength and refined flavor.

The ancient Greco and Fiano vineyard of Pipoli

The vineyard is now mature and produces truly beautiful bunches. This is also thanks to the perfect climate. Abundant sunshine contributes to the ripening process and gives the Greco and Fiano grapes a rich richness. The fresh mountain breeze that blows across the vineyards provides the necessary cooling during the growing season. This coolness is essential for the grapes to mature evenly and calmly. Without this cooling, the bunches would ripen too quickly. Fortunately, that's not the case, and the soil also contributes to the quality of this white wine. The deep roots allow the vines to absorb a great deal of moisture, which is also important in the warm climate. Once the grapes have reached full ripeness, they are harvested separately in the early morning to prevent damage to the bunches and oxidation. The grapes are transported in small crates to Vigneti del Vulture.

The best blend for this white Pipoli

First, both the Greco and Fiano are vinified separately. Then it's up to the winemaker at Vigneti del Vulture to find the perfect blend. A crucial task, as the Pipoli family has a reputation to uphold. Once the blend is ready, this white wine is left to mature in steel vats. The aging period is long, lasting at least six months, and this is reflected in the aromas and flavors of this beautiful white wine. The Pipoli Greco Fiano has hints of dried and fresh apricots and sweet flowers on the nose. This wine is full-bodied and dominated by aromas of citrus and tropical fruits. The wine has good acidity, which provides a pleasant freshness on the finish.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0594/9358/0879/files/pipoli-bianco-greco-fiano-basilicata_6394.webp?v=1770109519
pipoli-rosato-basilicata-igp-rose
Pipoli Rosato Basilicata PGI Rosé

Pipoli Rosato Basilicata IGP Rosé, Basilicata, Italy

Pipoli Rosato is one of those rosés that immediately shows that Southern Italy can do much more than just full-bodied red wine.
