The Lafage Rosé Miraflor has become a household name in the rosé world. What many people don't know, however, is that Lafage produces another rosé, the Lafage Cote Rosé. These wines have been a staple in our selection for years. This beautiful southern French winery has a rich and long history but remains family-owned. Today, Jean-Marc Lafage and his wife Eliane are at the helm of Domaine Lafage. The estate is nestled between the azure Mediterranean and the mighty Pyrenees, in the far south of France between Perpignan and the coast. The estate boasts 140 hectares of vineyards on predominantly chalky soils. With this wide range of vineyards, Lafage knows how to create wines for every taste, from beautiful basic wines to gourmet delights.

Light French rosé made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache Noir

A good and affordable rosé—that's what Jean-Marc and Eliane wanted with this Lafage Coté Rosé. Made from 90% Grenache Noir and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, this was bound to be an elegant, feminine rosé. The vineyards for the Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache Noir are located on terraces near the Mediterranean Sea. Here, the grapes bask in the sun all day, while the cooling sea breeze creates a perfect balance. The falling nighttime temperature also significantly influences the freshness of the grapes. Furthermore, the clay and stony soil also influences the flavor of the grapes. As the growing season draws to a close, Jean-Marc and his wife keep a close eye on the grapes. Once the grapes reach their perfect ripeness, they are harvested by hand. After pressing, vinification takes place in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature, after which the final blend is created. The brief exposure of the skins gives this rosé its beautiful salmon-pink colour.

The taste of the Lafage Cote Rosé

The quality of Lafage wines has been consistent for years, and this delicious Lafage Cote rosé is no exception. The bottle alone is a feast for the eyes. Pouring the wine reveals its beautiful light salmon pink color even more vividly than in the bottle. As we pour, the fresh aromas also emerge. Nosing the glass, we noted hints of fresh red fruit like apples and raspberries, with a refreshing hint of grapefruit and citrus at the back. The palate is wonderfully refreshing, with notes of young red fruit beautifully accentuated. A fresh hint of citrus on the back of the tongue provides a good balance.
