Every wine lover knows the wines of Chateau Purcari in Moldova; they are known for their purity and strength. Wine has been grown in the Stefan Voda region since the 12th century. The region is known for its powerful soil structures and the delicate climate of the vineyards. Chateau Purcari is located in the village of Purcari, surrounded by the vineyards of the Agon Zograf Monastery. The wines are grown in the southern tip, near the tri-border area.
1827 was an important year for Chateau Purcari
In 1827, Emperor Nicholas I of Russia granted the winery the status of the first specialized winery in Bessarabia. This proved highly successful for this magnificent Moldavian winery. A few years later, Château Purcari wines graced the tables of no less than Tsar Nicholas II and King George V of England. At the beginning of the last century, significant investments were made in both the vineyards and state-of-the-art winery technology. This further improved the quality of the wines, which have since earned them international acclaim. Many wines, including this red Pinot Noir, have won numerous awards, and we think that's no wonder.Wood aging for the Purcari 1827 Pinot Noir
The Pinot Noir grapes grow on a slightly higher vineyard, which gives the bunches more coolness. And that's something the Pinot Noir grape loves. With its roots deep in the ground, the bunches receive plenty of nutrients from the rich soil. Once the Pinot Noir grapes are ripe, they are harvested entirely by hand. Only the best bunches are selected and transported in small crates to Chateau Purcari. A gentle pressing follows, and this red wine is aged in oak for at least six months. The winemaker at Chateau Purcari chooses to use only French oak barrels to enhance the wine's softness and finesse. Anyone who didn't know better would think they were holding a Burgundy in their glass. It has a beautiful light red color, and the aroma offers nuances of wilted roses, strawberries, raspberries, and a touch of lavender. The taste is a true Pinot Noir, with plenty of red fruit on the palate, accompanied by just the right amount of spice. Refined tannins with hints of blueberry are present on the back of the palate. A light touch of smoke and vanilla which makes it simply amazing.Product details
