What is Syrah?

Syrah is a red grape variety with thick skins and an intense flavor structure. Outside of Europe, the name Shiraz is used, particularly in Australia, where the style is often riper and more sensual.

Origin and vineyards

Syrah's birthplace lies in the northern Rhône , in appellations like Hermitage, Côte-Rôtie, and Crozes-Hermitage. Here, wines are made of unparalleled elegance and complexity. Grape and style

Storage and serving

Syrah is among the grapes with the greatest aging potential. Basic wines can be kept for three to five years, while top wines from Hermitage or the Barossa Valley can age for twenty years or more. Serve Syrah at 16 to 18 degrees Celsius and preferably decant older vintages to fully develop the aromas.
