The Barolo wine from Italy
For Bel Colle wines, we travel to Piedmont, a region in northwestern Italy. With Turin as its capital, Piedmont is primarily known for its industry and cars. However, Piedmont has another major asset: wine. And not just any wine. We're talking about Barolo, considered one of Italy's "big three," along with Barbaresco and Brunello di Montalcino. Barolo is also known as the "king's wine" because the former kings of Italy were fond of this Piedmontese gem.
The Italian wines of Bel Colle
Many wineries that produce Barolo wine have a centuries-old history. They have been making Barolo wine for generations, using a classic, trusted method for decades. However, in the late 1970s, three friends decided to take the plunge. Brothers Franco and Carlo Pontiglione and Giuseppe Priola founded a unique winery. It is located in Verduno, just a few minutes' drive north of the famous village of Barolo.
The wines of Bel Colle
The Bel Colle vineyards are located in the Monvigliero region. This is widely considered one of the finest Barolo subregions. Not only is the quality excellent, but the view is also definitely worth a visit. If you're in the area and happen to drive past, you'll be treated to a magnificent vineyard situated like a natural amphitheater. Indescribably beautiful.
