When Jean-Claude and Carolyn Martin took on the challenge of establishing a winery in a remote corner of the Walker Bay Wine Region in 2002, they did so with the courage of their convictions. The 40 hectares of rolling land on the towering Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge had never before been planted with vines, but given its enormous potential, they set out with tenacity and determination to transform it into one of South Africa's finest wineries. No easy feat, but the result is impressive. A true Creation! Since then, significant investment has been made in the beautiful winery, including the construction of a completely renovated, modern wine cellar in 2007, complete with numerous wooden barrels. Because, as Jean-Claude says, the best wine must mature in the best conditions. And you can certainly taste it, with his superb Chardonnay, Viognier, Pinot Noir, and many other wines. Each piece represents craftsmanship, and it's no wonder Creation has frequently received top scores at Platter.
