Buy or order Marchesi di Barolo wine
We're in love with the Marchesi di Barolo winery. First and foremost, because of the romantic story that preceded its founding. It all takes place in the eponymous village of Barolo in Piedmont. Today, this village is world-famous, but in the 19th century, it wasn't. The story begins with Marquis Falletti. His castle still forms the heart of the Barolo region. At the beginning of the 19th century, he discovered the power of the vineyards surrounding the village of Barolo. He took the first steps that would lead to the Barolo wines we know today. After his wife died in 1864, the Falletti family was no more. However, in 1895, Pietro Abbona arrived, continuing the Marquis Falletti's life's work in the Falletti castle under the name Marchesi di Barolo.
The winery for the Barolo wines
The building that houses the current winery was once part of the Falletti estate. It's a massive country house, painted yellow with typical Italian green shutters. It has an authentic and original feel. Currently, a descendant of Pietro Abbona, Ernesto Abbona, owns Marchesi di Barolo. Under his leadership, Marchesi di Barolo wine production has increased, and they currently produce an impressive 1.5 million bottles of wine annually.
The best Italian wine is from Marchesi di Barolo
Thanks to the efforts of Marchesi di Barolo, Barolo wines have become iconic. Along with Amarone and Brunello, they are often called the "king's wines." It was none other than the King of Sardinia who was deeply impressed by Marchesi di Barolo's wines in the 19th century. Wine lovers worldwide still rave about Barolo wines, with Marchesi di Barolo wines standing out in particular. It's no wonder that wines like Marchesi di Barolo Rure Barbera d'Asti and Marchesi di Barolo Barbera d'Alba Peiragal received special mentions in the prestigious wine guide De Grote Hamersma.
