Buy or order Montresor wine

Italian wines with a French twist, even though they're all typical Italian DOC wines, made from indigenous grape varieties. That's unusual. However, the family has French origins. It all begins around 1600, when Claude de Montresor became Duke of Orleans, in central France. When the family moved to Italy at the end of the 19th century to make wine, they brought with them the allure of the duchy. This allure is still evident in all Montresor wines.

The Italian wine of Montresor

The Montresor family settled in northern Italy, in the wine province par excellence: Veneto. The winery was established just north of the culturally rich northern Italian city of Verona, a short drive from the renowned Lake Garda. From its founding in 1892 to the present day, Montresor has consistently received high ratings; other winemakers envy its exquisite wines.

Montresor has the best DOC wines from Veneto

Montresor's specialty is undoubtedly the production of DOC wines. This isn't surprising, considering Veneto has a very large number of DOC classifications. Montresor has planted vineyards in all the well-known DOC regions. Think of names like Valpolicella, Bardolino, Custoza, Lugana, and of course, the king of wines: Amarone.

The Montresor vineyards, like so many in this part of Italy, are planted with local, well-known, and lesser-known grape varieties. As far as the eye can see, you see vines of Corvina, Molinara, Turbiana, Cortese, and Garganega. True Venetian characters. They make Veneto one of Italy's finest wine regions.

The Amarone wines of Montresor

Montresor's flagship wine is, of course, the Amarone. This wine has acquired an almost mythical status among wine drinkers worldwide, being mentioned in the same breath as icons like Barolo and Brunello. Montresor has since specialized in Amarone wines and is achieving great success. They have several different Amarone vineyards, each responsible for a different Amarone wine. The finest Amarone wine is from the Capitel della Crosara vineyard. This Montresor Capitel della Crosara Amarone is the absolute pinnacle of this prestigious winery.
