This is Tenuta dell'Ornellaia's flagship wine and one of Italy's most sought-after wines. All the grapes come from their own vineyards and are carefully handled by the cellar master. The grapes are fermented partly in oak and partly in stainless steel. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine is aged for 18 months in barriques, 60% of which are in new French oak barrels and 40% in one-year-old French oak barrels, followed by a further 12 months in bottle. As befits a top wine, this one is already remarkably delicious in its youth, but will continue to develop in bottle for years to come.
