The Sauvignon Blanc grapes are quickly transported to the winery and then immediately cold-pressed. This creates a characteristic Sauvignon Blanc aroma of white fruit with a light touch of citrus and spice in the aroma of this Wente Louis Mel.

This white wine is named after a French emigrant, Louis Mel, who traveled to the western United States in 1870 in search of a place to make wines to rival the great French Crus. He found the ideal spot in the Livermore Valley. There, he planted cuttings of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. The Wente family acquired the Louis Mel estate in 1930, where the descendants of the vines live in gravelly and loamy soils similar to the terroir of their native Bordeaux. Wente Winery has been crafting top-quality wines since 1883. It is the oldest continuously family-owned winery in the country, and its wines are 100% sustainably grown in the Livermore Valley, San Francisco Bay, and Arroyo Seco, Monterey appellations. The winery is owned and operated by the fourth and fifth generations of the Wente family. With the utmost respect for the knowledge passed down from previous generations, they continue their vision of wine quality and integrity through passion, dedication, and a commitment to excellence.
