Description
The Wente family is the big name behind Beyer Ranch wines, and they're no strangers to wine connoisseurs. They purchased the vineyards that once belonged to the founders, the Beyer family. This pioneering family helped make California wines famous and built some of the finest vineyards. Through extensive research and expertise, the Beyer family cultivated the finest vineyards. Each grape variety was given its own place, and we still reap the benefits of this heritage. Because of this history, the family wanted to immortalize the name and has been producing wines from these vineyards under the Beyer Ranch label for several years now. This red Merlot, too, is an unforgettable wine.
The harvest of the Merlot grapes
The Merlot vineyards are located in warmer areas of California, allowing the grapes to ripen perfectly. The combination with the old vineyards, where the soil acts as a treasure trove, gives the grapes tremendous strength. The Beyer family's passion for Merlot was immense, and we can taste it. The sun does its work, allowing the grapes to mature slowly, after which the harvest is entirely hand-picked. Each bunch is inspected before harvesting, and only the finest are transported to Beyer Ranch. Harvest always takes place early in the morning to protect the bunches from oxidation and bruising during transport. This way, the Merlot grapes retain their freshness, which we taste in this ripe and smooth Merlot.Soft and refined this Beyer Ranch Merlot
Once the bunches are brought in, the juice is extracted through a gentle pressing. Afterward, it undergoes a light yet impressive oak aging, bringing everything together in this red wine. This is evident from the pour, resulting in a beautiful, soft red color with a purple rim. It flows from the glass, offering impressions of fresh red and black fruit with a touch of spice. Swirl the glass gently, and you'll also notice nuances of cocoa, toffee, and vanilla. The palate is incredibly smooth; we compared it to a warm bed you fall into after a tiring day. Beautiful flavors of blackberry and cherry on the palate, with hints of vanilla and cedar. The pleasant fruitiness also leaves a pleasant feeling on the cheeks, with hints of vanilla and plum. What a true masterpiece from the old vineyards of Beyer Ranch.Product details
