With a score of 95 points, 2023 was an exceptionally good year for white wines from the Loire Valley. This vintage promises wines of extraordinary quality and a beautifully approachable character.

The Domaine Christian Salmon family has been cultivating the finest grapes in the Sancerre region for six generations. The vineyards are located in the renowned commune of Bué, home to wines renowned worldwide. The founder of this beautiful winery is Irénée Salmon. Together with his sons, they established vineyards on Bué's most beautiful slopes. This legacy, passed down from father to son, is still maintained by the family today. Domaine Christian Salmon is not a large winery, with only fifteen hectares of Sancerre Blanc and five hectares of Pinot Noir for red wine. And just three hectares of the magnificent Pouilly-Fumé.

The old vineyard of Salmon Sancerre

The Salmon vineyards and winery are located in the commune of Bué, near Sancerre, east of Bourges, in central France. Here you'll find some of the appellation's most prestigious vineyards, such as "Chêne Marchand," "Clos de la Poussie," and "Les Garennes." The soil consists primarily of clay and limestone, a hallmark of a top-class Sancerre. The Sauvignon Blanc grapes for this white Sancerre grow in a wonderful climate, with plenty of warmth but also cooling winds and nighttime temperatures. Once the harvest is ripe, the bunches are harvested entirely by hand, and only the finest are pressed for this white wine. This makes this Salmon Sancerre Blanc pure, refined, and possesses all the fine qualities of a fine Sancerre wine.

This Salmon Sancerre is a beautiful white wine with all the wonderful characteristics of the Sancerre region! The old vines grow in clay and limestone soil on the slopes of Bué. There are no better conditions for producing a top-notch Sancerre, and we certainly taste it! The aroma reveals aromas of freshness and fruitiness, yet harmoniously balanced with minerality. The palate of this Salmon Sancerre is very pure and has a beautiful bouquet of citrus and lime, complemented by minerals and a hint of mint. All these components are perfectly balanced—true craftsmanship!
