The absolute showpiece of the Lapis Luna winery. Nothing is left to chance in this Californian red wine, and we're dealing with the absolute best of America. Responsible for this is the exceptionally talented Nicole Walsh, a winemaker par excellence. She founded Lapis Luna winery 23 years ago and has been creating the most formidable wines for 23 vintages. This has resulted in her becoming chair of the prestigious Women-Owned Winery Movement.
The wines of Lapis Luna
Nicole Walsh left nothing to chance in creating Lapis Luna wines. Several vineyards were selected, situated in the most beautiful locations in Californian viticulture. Wine is not produced in a single location, giving the wines a diverse character. The grapes for this Lapis Luna North Coast Zinfandel are found in Northern California, in the Mendocino and Pauli Ranch subregions.
Lapis Luna literally means "stone and moon," representing the relationship between the moon and the earth. Lapis Luna believes in the power of nature and has impressively illustrated this relationship on every bottle of the winery's wine. Thanks to the phases of the moon and natural conditions, Lapis Luna wines are made with the finest California grapes.
impressions of Lapis Luna North Coast Zinfandel
Zinfandel is the American version of Primitivo—a grape that made its name in Italian wines. Besides Zinfandel, this wine also contains a small amount of Sangiovese, also of Italian origin. This gives the wine a fresher and fruitier flavor, creating depth. After pressing, the juice is aged in oak, a combination of new French oak and used American oak. This results in an exciting result, and Lapis Luna North Coast Zinfandel will never tire of it. Dark and intense, with plum, blueberry, and bilberry notes beautifully balanced.
