Our Review
Psst, I'm not a big fan of Sauvignon, but I really like this one. This wine is actually very soft, round, unctuous, aromatic, and reasonably fruity. As with all wines with significant acidity, drink well chilled.
This Comte Lafond Sancerre from Ladoucette has everything you'd expect from a Sancerre. It's tropically pure and boasts a wealth of wonderful aromas. Domaine de Ladoucette is a centuries-old estate dating back to the 18th century and now owned by Baron Patrick de Ladoucette, a descendant of Comte Lafond, who was the first to purchase vineyards in the Loire. Since then, the estate has continued to grow steadily. The exceptional quality of the vineyards has resulted in the production of superb white, red, and rosé Sancerre wines.
The vineyards for this Comte Lafond Sancerre
This Comte Lafond Sancerre marked the beginning of Comte Lafond's wine dream, ancestor of Baron Patrick de Ladoucette. Originally from Burgundy, Comte Lafond soon acquired vineyards in Sancerre. The vineyards are situated on steep, south-facing slopes surrounding the well-known villages of Sancerre: Bué, Chadoux, Chavignol, and Verdigny. The vines are 25 to 35 years old, and the soil consists of clay, limestone, and silica. No machinery or pumps are used during harvesting and vinification. The estate operates entirely on gravity. Fermentation takes place very slowly in stainless steel tanks for 6 to 8 weeks at controlled temperatures to preserve the freshness and aromas characteristic of the varietal. It then matures on its lees for 3 to 6 months, depending on the vintage, and is stored in tanks with a glazed tile coating where it is refined before release, a process that can take up to two years. The smell and taste of Comte Lafond Sancerre
The Sancerre Comte Lafond is a vibrant pale yellow with greenish reflections. Its well-balanced aromas of white flowers mingle with notes of wild mint and dill. A hint of exotic fruit mixed with citrus underscores the mineral notes of flint. The palate is elegant and lively, with a lingering finish of ripe lime and pebbles.Product details
