Domaine Delaporte Sancerre Blanc Chavignol 2024 0.375L, France

Domaine Delaporte Sancerre Blanc Chavignol 2024 0.375L is a half-bottle of white Sancerre from Chavignol, made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc. This cuvée comes from various plots and perfectly demonstrates why Chavignol is so beloved: citrus freshness, green tension, minerality, and an elegant, pure finish. The small size is ideal when you want to open a refined Loire Sauvignon Blanc without needing a whole bottle.

Vineyards and region

Chavignol is located in the heart of Sancerre, one of the most famous appellations for Sauvignon Blanc in the Loire.

Location / Origin: Domaine Delaporte is located in Chavignol, within the Sancerre appellation. This village is known for its calcareous soils, steep slopes, and wines with a crisp, mineral signature.

Area: The estate works with 33 hectares of vineyards. For this Sancerre, fruit from 30 different plots is brought together, combining finesse, aromatic complexity, and minerality in the blend.

Exposure: The vines have a southeast exposure and are situated on sunny slopes. This exposure helps the Sauvignon Blanc ripen sufficiently while maintaining the fresh Loire structure.

Soil: The vineyards are located on various limestone soils. This soil diversity contributes to the tension, precision, and mineral length that make this Sancerre so recognizable.

Vineyard & Harvest: The vines are on average 35 years old, and the grapes are hand-harvested into small 12 kg crates. Since 2023, the domain has been organically certified, which aligns with Matthieu Delaporte's meticulous approach.

Vinification and aging

The vinification focuses on purity, aromatic precision, and fresh tension.

Harvest & Selection: The grapes are hand-picked and then sorted on a sorting table. Working in small crates keeps the fruit intact and allows for precise selection before pressing begins.

Pressing & Fermentation: The grapes are hydraulically pressed and then fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Stainless steel preserves the citrus, green notes, and mineral freshness, keeping them crisp and pure.

Aging / Oak Aging: The wine ages for 6 months on its fine lees. What is aging on the lees? It is aging on fine yeast cells, which gives the wine extra texture and length without losing its fresh Sancerre character.

Aging Potential: This Sancerre can be enjoyed young but retains its primary aromas for several years. This makes the wine attractive for those who appreciate fresh Sauvignon Blanc with some extra depth.

Grape composition

This white Sancerre is made entirely from Sauvignon Blanc.

100% Sauvignon Blanc – Sancerre: Sauvignon Blanc gives this wine its citrus, blackcurrant leaf, kiwi, green tension, and fresh minerality. In Sancerre, the grape takes on a crisper, more calcareous expression than in many warmer regions.

Tasting notes and serving suggestions

In the glass, Domaine Delaporte Sancerre Blanc Chavignol 2024 has a pale golden color with green reflections. The nose is expressive and intense, with boxwood, rhubarb, blackcurrant, kiwi, and a slight floral touch. The palate is rounded on the attack, then brightly fresh, pure, and lively, with a clean, long finish.

Serving temperature: Serve this Sancerre at 10–13 °C, so that the citrus freshness, green aromas, and mineral tension are beautifully expressed.

Food pairings: Perfect as an aperitif and with oysters, shellfish, sushi, grilled fish, fish with light sauces, goat cheese from the Loire, poultry, and fresh, spicy Asian dishes.

Awards

4.1 stars, Vivino: A strong public rating that shows Domaine Delaporte Sancerre Blanc Chavignol is widely appreciated by lovers of fresh, mineral Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire.
