The extensive maturation process of Girlan Trattmann Pinot Noir Riserva

Girlan, located in the heart of Italy's renowned Alto Adige wine region, is a winery steeped in history. The region is known for its mountainous landscape and ideal climatic conditions for producing high-quality wines. Since its founding in 1923, Girlan has built an excellent reputation as one of the region's leading white wine producers. Over the past decades, the winery has become one of the leading wineries in Alto Adige, boasting an extensive portfolio of vineyards managed by experienced winemakers who strive for perfection in every bottle they produce. After being hand-picked, the grapes are carefully placed in small vats and transported to the winery. During the vinification of this wine, 10% of the grapes are vinified as whole bunches, which creates a more complex flavor. The must is gravity-fed into steel tanks where alcoholic fermentation takes place for 20 to 24 days. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for 12 months in barriques and small wooden barrels, followed by 8 months in large wooden barrels. This aging in wooden barrels gives the wine its characteristic complexity and structure. Finally, the wine is bottled for another 8 months to further develop and refine its aromas and flavors.
