A subtle pink color, vibrant fruit, and a soft, slightly sweet finish give this Italian rosé its charm. This ‘blush’ is created during the processing of grapes whose skins have a naturally pink to light purple hue. Behind this fresh Italian rosé is the Cielo family, who began their wine story in 1908 in the heart of the Veneto region.
Cielo has a long-standing connection with Veneto and the winegrowers in the area.
- Location / origin: This rosé comes from Veneto in Northeast Italy. The winery is based in Montorso Vicentino, in the area between Vicenza and Verona at the foot of the Little Dolomites.
- Regional collaboration: The Cielo family formed an alliance with local winegrowers in 1999. By working together from vineyard to bottle, the estate is able to coordinate cultivation and winemaking and build on the experience of the growers.
The preparation is focused on a soft color and preserving the fruity aromas.
- Pressing & color: The grapes are gently pressed. The natural pigments in the pink to light purple skins give the juice its light blush tint; handling the grapes carefully helps to maintain that delicate style.
- Fermentation: Fermentation takes place at a low temperature. This better preserves the fresh, fruity scents and gives the wine its lively character, with a soft hint of sweetness in the finish.
The unique skin color of the grape variety explains why this wine can achieve such a light rosé color.
- Pinot Grigio – Veneto: This grape variety, which is also widely used for white wine, has grayish to pink skins. It gives this blush its fresh character and light structure, with room for soft fruit notes.
