Vintage Report
The 2022 vintage for dry wines in Portugal was excellent with a score of 94 points [5, 6]. The wines from this year are of high quality and are characterized by early accessibility .
Quinta de Chocapalha is located near Aldeia Galega and stretches across the sunny hills of Alenquer, a demarcated region in northwest Lisbon. Its historic and excellent vineyards have been renowned since the 16th century. And on these beautiful hills, they produce even more beautiful wines, each of exceptionally high quality.
The vinification of Quinta de Chocapalha White
The Tavares da Silva family has nurtured the vineyards over the years, and today their youngest daughter, Sandra, produces some of the finest wines in Portugal. Sandra has built a reputation as a modern and conscious winemaker in the Douro region. Lisbon often brings to mind sunshine and stunning beaches, but the climate is also quite windy and cool. This is precisely what creates the wonderful aromas and enhances the acidity in the wines. The Arinto grape isn't widely known, but Sandra Tavares has created something special and unmistakable here. The base for this white wine is the Ciosinho grape, supplemented with a small amount of Arinto. The grapes come from a 30-year-old vineyard on the Chocapalha family estate. The soil is rich in marl, which gives the grapes a unique character. The grapes are carefully harvested, ensuring perfect ripeness. Because quality is paramount, the grapes are rigorously selected, ensuring only the finest grapes make it into the bottle. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a low temperature, which is continuously monitored. Finally, the wine is aged for a few months on its fine lees. The seductive scent of Quinta de Chocapalha White
The result is a pale greenish-yellow wine that sparkles in the glass. And it has a truly seductive aroma. The nose offers a fresh aroma of citrus, floral notes, and a touch of tropical fruit. On the palate, it's pleasantly dry, beautifully balanced, and has a long, satisfying finish.Micro-terroir
