Bodegas Volcanes is a new winery, established in Chile in 2009. The winery focuses entirely on producing wines from 100 percent volcanic soils. With no fewer than 2,900 volcanoes in Chile, the winery knows exactly what to do with its vineyards. The winery is made up of a small group of wine enthusiasts. They own three vineyards throughout Chile and produce vibrant, rich, and complex wines.
The grapes are harvested by hand and undergo a rigorous selection process in the winery. After destemming and pressing, the grapes undergo a four-day cold maceration, focusing on achieving the desired color and aromas. This is followed by alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature. Pumpovers ensure that the correct level of tannins and color can be extracted from the skins. Finally, the wine is aged in French and American oak barrels for 8 to 9 months. After barrel aging, the wine is blended, and it's time to enjoy this Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva from Bodegas Volcanes.
This red wine emerges with a ruby-red color in the glass. The aroma is wonderfully expressive with clear notes of red fruit. This is complemented by spicy notes and a hint of smoke thanks to the oak aging. The wine has firm, ripe tannins with fruity notes, toasted menthol, and a hint of licorice. This red wine pairs well with red meat dishes, barbecues, or spicy chicken.
