Red wines from Bordeaux are inextricably linked to the Mouton Cadet winery. The founder of the parent company, Mouton Rothschild, was none other than Baron Nathaniel. However, his grandson, Baron Philippe de Rothschild, ensured the winery's great success. He established Mouton Cadet in the 1920s. Originally, this winery focused on Bordeaux; more specifically, the Médoc. However, the winery has grown steadily, initially outside Bordeaux, including in the Languedoc. However, the expansion overseas was also quickly made. From the mid-1980s onward, Baron Philippe de Rothschild has been creating great wines, particularly in Chile.
