The origin, grapes and craftsmanship behind this wine.

A unique wine with a rich character, originating from the Minervois region in the south of France. The name "Les Freres d'Armes" means "Brothers in Arms" and symbolizes the close bond between the two wineries, Calmel and Joseph.

The wine originates from the Minervois, an area known for its Mediterranean climate and the influence of the nearby sea. The vineyards are situated on a diverse terroir with various soil types, including limestone, clay, and pebbles, which give the wine a unique and complex flavor. At peak ripeness, the grapes are harvested entirely by hand, carefully selected and sorted. The grapes then undergo traditional vinification, involving gentle pumping over at the beginning of alcoholic fermentation, followed by vatting for one month. During this process, the grapes are carefully fermented at a controlled temperature to promote optimal extraction of color and aromas. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine is transferred to barrels, where it then ages for six months on fine lees. This aging period further develops the wine's complex flavor profiles and adds a silky texture.

Calmel & Joseph Les Freres d'Armes Minervois is a wine with a very deep purple-red color. The nose is full and rich with ripe notes of black fruit, balanced by a beautiful minerality. The palate is powerful, round, delicate, and simultaneously powerful, resulting in a wonderful harmony. The emphasis is on the red fruit, which provides a fresh finish with a hint of licorice, creating a gastronomic tension. Les Freres d'Armes Minervois is a wine with impressive personality and wonderful complexity, making it an excellent choice for connoisseurs and lovers of elegance and power in a single glass.
