Domaine Pujol Rosé is a light, dry South French rosé for sunny lunches, grilled dishes and moments when you want to serve something refined and uncomplicated. The unique signature of this wine lies primarily in its origin around Saint Frichoux and Laure-Minervois, where limestone, clay and a warm Mediterranean influence come together in a style with finesse and suppleness.
Vineyards and Region
Its origin is in a classic part of Languedoc where relief, soil, and climate largely dictate the wine's style.
- Location / Origin: Domaine Pujol originated in Saint Frichoux in Languedoc and also owns vineyards in Laure-Minervois, a few kilometres away. The total harvest from the combined 80 ha is vinified in Saint Frichoux.
- Soil: The soils of the two estates are described as the “Balcon de l’Aude”, with a limestone and clay topsoil over a stony subsoil. This provides the vines with a dry, well-draining base in which they can root deeply.
- Climate & Influences: The climate is Mediterranean, with plenty of sun and sufficient warmth to ripen the grapes beautifully. In combination with limestone and clay, this yields wines with both breadth and finesse.
- Vineyard Environment: The plots are scattered across the Mourels, hilly slopes with pine trees, green oaks, and almond trees. This rugged, dry environment suits a rosé that remains light, refined, and pure.
Grape Composition
This rosé is made from 3 grapes that together balance freshness, suppleness, and subtle red fruit.
- Carignan – Pays d’Oc: Carignan gives the wine extra freshness and a somewhat firmer line in the blend.
- Cinsault – Pays d’Oc: Cinsault brings suppleness and a light, refined rosé character that perfectly matches the elegant style of this wine.
- Syrah – Pays d’Oc: Syrah adds more aromatic depth and a subtle spicy undertone.
Tasting Notes and Serving Suggestions
Light pink in the glass, with a fine aroma of light red fruit and minerality. On the palate, this rosé comes across as dry and delicate, with a supple, refined style that pairs well with sunny and light meals. The finish remains fresh and elegantly sustained.
- Dishes: Grilled vegetables, chicken, and a relaxed glass outside of mealtimes are a natural fit.
