Nestled among the vineyards of the Pays d'Oc lies the beautiful Croix d'Or winery. The winery has become a household name in the region for its exquisite wines. Its perfect location in the village of Pennauttier provides the Chardonnay grapes with everything they need: abundant sunshine to ripen the grapes well, and plenty of cooling from the mountain wind. This coolness is essential to maintain a certain freshness in their white wines.

The old Chardonnay vineyard of Croix d'Or

The Chardonnay vineyard is now mature and produces full, powerful bunches. Because the soil is mostly limestone, the Chardonnay grapes develop a great deal of strength and richness. At ideal ripeness, they are harvested early in the morning to prevent bruising. Once the Chardonnay grapes arrive at Croix d'Or, they are placed on sorting tables to remove any unusable bunches. This ensures the final juice is pure and clean.

The moment you pour, the fun begins, with vibrant aromas of tropical fruit. The beautiful golden yellow color is very appealing and gives it a lovely, thick structure, a hallmark of a top Chardonnay. Swirl it gently in the glass to reveal beautiful nuances of tropical fruits like mango, pineapple, and apricots, complemented by a touch of vanilla and lime. The palate is mildly dry and very refined, with abundant fruit notes of mango, peaches, and apricots, along with a hint of mint and citrus! This wine is delicious as an evening wine but also pairs well with dishes like fresh salmon, salads, and various pasta dishes.
