Khipu is a Chilean winery located in the Central Valley, known for its unique wines. One of the winery's flagship wines is the Khipu Chardonnay. This Chilean wine has a wonderfully full and creamy flavor, all at a very attractive price. The name Khipu comes from the Incas, who used a form of communication called Quipu while traveling. Only a few decades ago did it become clear that these knotted ropes were a form of communication. Because Chile is inextricably linked to the Incas, Khipu aims to pay tribute to this ancient civilization with these wines.

The grapes for the Khipu Chardonnay come from various vineyards in the Central Valley. To give the wine its full, creamy character, most of the grapes are grown in the southern regions such as Curico, Maule, and Rapel Valley. To maintain sufficient freshness, some grapes from the more northern region, Limari, are used. This region is cooler, allowing the Chardonnay grapes to mature more slowly and retaining a pleasant, fresh note. The Khipu Chardonnay is harvested mechanically and the whole bunch is pressed. Fermentation takes place largely in stainless steel vats. However, a small portion is aged in French oak barrels, which creates a full and smooth texture.

The smell and taste of the Khipu Chardonnay

This Chilean white wine has a golden yellow color with a subtle layer of oil. The nose reveals wonderfully rich aromas of tropical fruits like pineapple, mango, and peach, with a subtle hint of vanilla. The palate is full and rounded with a pleasantly creamy finish. The nuances of the tropical fruit are clearly discernible, along with a subtle hint of citrus, preventing this white wine from becoming too heavy. The finish is smooth and long. In short, the Khipu Chardonnay is highly recommended for lovers of full-bodied, creamy, yet refreshing wines. And all at a very attractive price!
