A superb white wine from Moldova. Yes, you read that right: Moldova. The association of quality wines with this Eastern European country isn't often used, but it's entirely unjustified. No other country boasts such a long wine history as Moldova. It flourished as early as the 14th century, when it was still a kingdom. Unfortunately, the influence of the Soviet Union dampened this magnificent wine culture. Fortunately, it's currently flourishing again, thanks in part to the wonderful wines of Salcuta.

The vineyards in Stefan Voda

The Salcuta vineyards are located in the eponymous village of Salcuta, situated in the southeastern region of Stefan Voda. This is one of Moldova's most beautiful wine regions. This area offers many advantages. First and foremost, the climate: the vineyards lie at the same latitude as the famous Bordeaux vineyards. Furthermore, the nearby Black Sea has a significant influence on the vines. Nighttime temperatures can be particularly cool, which is incredibly beneficial for the grapes.

A chardonnay from Moldova

Moldova specializes in classic French grape varieties, including Chardonnay. These vines grow in the illustrious Stefan Voda region, where they are given everything their hearts desire. After harvest, the full bunches are vinified at Salcuta. This Winemaker's Way Chardonnay remains fresh and approachable thanks to its stainless steel fermentation. The result is a pleasant, easy-drinking glass of Chardonnay with generous notes of ripe melon and crisp grapefruit.
