The Côtes de Gascogne in France has become such a renowned wine region! The area is especially known for its fresh and pleasant white wines with a pleasant mouthfeel. This Au Cler Cotes de Gascogne is also a textbook example of a classy wine, and at this price point. The wine is made by the region's grandmaster, Dominique Ferret. He knows the vineyards inside and out and makes the finest wines from Colombard and Ugni Blanc grapes.
The old Cotes de Gascogne vineyard of Au Cler
The finest vineyards are selected for this white Au Cler wine. These are laden with Colombard and Ugni Blanc grapes, which complement each other perfectly in this white wine. But before this happens, the grapes are grown in a perfect climate. The abundant sunshine contributes to the ripeness of the bunches, which is then slowed by the falling nighttime temperatures. This is important for allowing the grapes to mature calmly and evenly. The fresh mountain breeze blowing through the vineyards gives the harvest a natural freshness, which we taste in this wine. Once the grapes have reached full ripeness, they are harvested and pressed separately. The blend of the Au Cler Cotes de Gascogne
After pressing, it's up to Dominique Ferret to create the perfect blend of Colombard and Ugni Blanc grapes. Every year, he surprises us with his wine, which remains truly exceptional. The fun begins the moment we open the bottle. The fruit bursts from the bottle, and we noted fruity nuances of apple, lychee, pear, and gooseberry. Once in the glass, the aromas are enhanced, and we also noted some fresh mint leaves and grapefruit. The palate is very lively, with plenty of soft and crisp fruit notes of citrus and grapefruit. On the back of the tongue, it also offers some green apple and, of course, a nice dose of gooseberry. This Au Cler Gascogne white wine is truly a top-notch wine for this price range!Product details
