This Capitel dei Nicalo is a small, baby Amarone. The grapes come from the finest vineyards of Valpolicella, in the heart of the Classico region. Like Amarone, Capitel dei Nicalo is made from Corvina and Rondinella grapes, with an addition of ten percent other grape varieties. This results in a wine with more power and depth than the basic Calpolicella Classico.

Special vinification of Capitel dei Nicalo

When making this Capitel dei Nicalo, the grapes are left on the vine to dry slightly. After harvest, they remain in the baskets for another month to lose another 8 to 10 percent of their weight. Afterward, the grapes are pressed, producing a beautifully concentrated juice that is aged in oak barrels. On the nose, this Capitel dei Nicalo Tedeschi has notes of cherry and raspberry, beautiful red fruit combined with a hint of spice.
