Vineyards and region
Le Grenache Blanc de la Chapelle comes from Hérault, in the South of France.
• Location / Origin: The wine is associated with La Chapelle near Aniane, close to Montpellier. This area is located in a warm South French wine region where white grapes such as Grenache Blanc can develop ripeness, volume, and spicy nuances.
• Village with wine history: Aniane gained extra recognition when the municipal council, led by Manuel Diaz, prevented the American company Mondavi from converting over 100 hectares of forest into vineyards. This was seen as a victory for local wine producers.
• Estate: La Chapelle is one of the oldest wine estates in Aniane. Due to a lack of succession, the estate came into the hands of Danielle Vialard.
Grape composition
This white wine is made entirely from Grenache Blanc.
• Grenache Blanc – Hérault: Grenache Blanc is a white mutation of Grenache Noir and is known for wines with roundness, volume, and spicy accents. In this wine, the grape provides aromas of white and yellow fruit, blossoms, anise, and fennel, with a full structure.
Tasting notes and serving suggestions
Saint Dominique Le Grenache Blanc de la Chapelle 2021 is full-bodied, with aromas of white fruit, yellow fruit, blossoms, anise, and fennel. The structure is creamy and rounded, while the finish remains spicy. With 13.5% alcohol, the wine has enough body for richer dishes, without losing its white fruit character.
• Serving temperature: Serve this Grenache Blanc at 10–12 °C, so that its full structure, fruit, and spicy notes remain beautifully balanced.
• Dishes: Delicious with white fish, salads, poultry, pasta with creamy sauce, grilled vegetables, and light dishes with Mediterranean herbs.
More information about La Chapelle
La Chapelle is one of the oldest wine estates in Aniane and came into the hands of Danielle Vialard due to a lack of succession. She had previously proven her quality as an oenologist in the Médoc at Château Cissac and, together with E. Hosteins, stands behind wines in which French classics receive a Southern French interpretation. Le Grenache Blanc de la Chapelle specifically showcases the white side of this range: rounded, spicy, and clearly rooted in the Hérault.
