Vintage Report
The 2019 vintage in Priorat is rated as excellent with a score of 94. The wines are currently still youthful and powerful in their tannins, indicating excellent aging potential.
Anyone who had mentioned a Priorat wine forty years ago would have been immediately laughed at. Priorat? It's a barren, rugged, and inhospitable region where vegetation is impossible. Wonderful for hiccups, but wines: don't even bother. No one could have imagined that Priorat is now one of Spain's most impressive wine regions. A Priorat wine gives you exactly what you'd expect from a perfect Spanish wine!
The wines of Celler Bartolome
The Priorat owes its success to a few passionate local winegrowers who invested in the wine. Thanks to new techniques that emerged at the end of the 20th century, irrigation became feasible in Priorat. Combined with the dry yet rich terroir, Priorat suddenly became a paradise for fantastic wines. Perfect wines, produced only in small quantities, yet impressive in aroma and flavor. Celler Bartolome is located just under 150 kilometers southwest of the vibrant city of Barcelona. It's nestled in the most remote corners of the Priorat region, making a casual visit nearly impossible. We stumbled upon this winery almost by chance, and ever since that first encounter, we've fallen in love with Celler Bartolome's wines.Impressions of Celler Bartolome Primitiu de Bellmunt
Looking at the grapes in this Celler Bartolome Primitiu de Bellmunt, you'd almost think we were dealing with a French wine. Nothing could be further from the truth, as it remains a Priorat par excellence. Winemakers in Priorat have sometimes opted for a classic planting of French grape varieties, as is the case with Celler Bartolome. It's 49% Grenache and 51% Carignan. Thanks to their age—some vines are well over a century old—they produce refined bunches. Celler Bartolome Primitiu de Bellmunt excels in both aroma and taste: creamy chocolate, dark cherries, sultry caramel, and spicy oak. The softness of vanilla provides a sparkling finish.Product details
