Vintage Report

The 2022 vintage in the Rhône is characterized by wines that are approachable and drinkable early. With a score of 84-86, it is considered a good quality vintage for early consumption.
The terroir of Vinsobres is magnificent. It's a pretty village near Vaison La Romaine, and the vineyard lies at an altitude of 300 meters and is largely terraced. Vinsobres is particularly well-suited for Syrah because it retains the finesse often lost in more southerly climates. It develops notes of violet, smoked meat, and blackberry. Grenache is also well-suited to this terroir, full-bodied yet not heavy, with notes of dark chocolate, cherry, and typical Garrigue aromas.

The centuries-old winery of Perrin

For over a century, the Perrin family has been incredibly successful. They now own 400 hectares of vineyards in the southern Rhône Valley. They began organic farming in 1953 and biodynamic farming in 1970. Today, two generations of the family are still active in the business, always working with a philosophy of excellence and the highest possible quality. The Grenache and Syrah grapes are harvested entirely by hand and selected separately, destemmed, and vinified. After crushing, the grapes undergo temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation with wild yeasts in large oak vats and stainless steel tanks. The grapes are then pressed and transferred to clean stainless steel tanks. The must from the Syrah grapes is transferred to one-year-old oak barriques for malolactic fermentation and aging. After 12 months of maturation, the wine is bottled and ready to be enjoyed.

The surprising aromas of Vinsobres Les Cornuds

This ruby-red wine sparkles in the glass, its aromas immediately surprising the nose. The aroma reveals red-black fruit, licorice, and dried herbs. The taste reveals notes of ripe black currants and black olives. The flavor carries through to a satisfying finish with ripe, soft tannins. This red wine from the Perrin family pairs well with a stew or mature hard cheeses. A powerful wine that can also be enjoyed on its own.
