Domaine Brotte Signature Thibault 2024 Côtes du Rhône, France
Domaine Brotte Signature Thibault 2024 is a modern red Côtes du Rhône specifically crafted to be enjoyed lightly chilled. Thibault Brotte gives this cuvée a striking twist by including white grapes in the red blend, which softens the tannins and keeps the wine extra fresh and fruity. The style is light, juicy, and aromatic, with red fruit, yellow fruit, and floral notes, packaged in a more sustainable bottle made of lighter glass.
Vineyards and region
This wine comes from the Rhône Valley, within the broad Côtes du Rhône appellation.
• Location / Origin: The grapes come from small winegrowers in the Rhône Valley who have been working with Brotte for decades. As a result, this cuvée combines regional grape knowledge with the house's winemaking experience in Châteauneuf du Pape.
• Soil: The vines grow on clay-limestone soils. This soil structure helps to combine ripe fruit with freshness and a supple tannin structure.
• Sustainability: The vineyards are HVE3 certified. This French certification focuses on biodiversity, water management, fertilization, and crop protection, among other things.
• Vineyard management: In winter, severe pruning is carried out. This helps to control yields and supports even ripening of the grapes.
Grapes
Signature Thibault Brotte 2024 is a red blend with both red and white grape varieties.
• Syrah – Côtes du Rhône: Syrah gives the wine red fruit, spiciness, and a fresh, juicy backbone.
• Grenache Noir – Côtes du Rhône: Grenache Noir brings roundness, soft fruitiness, and a supple structure.
• Carignan – Côtes du Rhône: Carignan adds extra tension, freshness, and a light spicy grip.
• Grenache Blanc – Côtes du Rhône: Why white grapes in red? Grenache Blanc refines the tannins and gives the wine a more modern, lighter-drinking style.
• Clairette – Côtes du Rhône: Clairette enhances the fresh, floral side of the wine and contributes to its elegant, almost rosé-like drinkability.
Vinification and aging
Vinification focuses on freshness, fruit, and soft tannins.
• Harvest & Selection: The grapes are harvested very early in September and early in the morning. This helps to preserve aromas and freshness before the grapes are processed in the cellar.
• Fermentation: Grenache Noir and Carignan are treated like a rosé wine, with 1 day of cold maceration, gentle pressing, and 36 hours of must settling. They then ferment for 4 days in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at 18–20 °C, ensuring the distinct fruity character is preserved.
• Fermentation of the other grapes: Syrah, Clairette, and Grenache Blanc ferment at 24 °C and undergo 4 days of maceration. This short extraction limits harsh tannins and preserves the fresh grape aromas.
• Aging: After malolactic fermentation, the wine ages for 3 months in lined concrete tanks. This short aging keeps the wine supple, fresh, and fruit-driven.
• Alcohol percentage: With 12.5% alcohol, Signature Thibault remains light-footed and suitable for drinking chilled.
Tasting notes and serving suggestions
In the glass, the wine is light ruby red with purple reflections. The aroma is fresh and generous, with fresh red fruit, yellow fruit, floral notes, raspberry, and cherry. The taste is round, soft, and subtle, with juicy fruit and fine tannins.
• Serving temperature: Serve this Côtes du Rhône at 10 °C, preferably after at least 1 hour in the refrigerator, so that the fruit, freshness, and soft tannins come out optimally.
• Dishes: Delicious as an aperitif and with salad with blue cheese and walnuts, grilled chicken, pork chop, pizza, and Asian snacks such as samosas or spring rolls.
More information about Maison Brotte
Maison Brotte has been located in Châteauneuf du Pape since 1931, but the wine family has been active in the Rhône since 1880. In 2015, Thibault and Benoît Brotte joined the family business as the 5th generation, where they work with their parents on a fresher and more contemporary interpretation of Rhône wine. Signature Thibault Brotte fits perfectly into this new generation: recognizably Rhône, but lighter, more modern, and made to be enjoyed chilled.
