Vintage Report
The 2023 vintage in Languedoc has been exceptionally rated by Robert Parker with 94 points. This indicates an extraordinarily good vintage that yields wines of very high quality.
This red PJ Astruc Etoile Rouge Classique is soft, but very soft indeed. It's made from the finest grapes found in the Limoux wine region. Thanks to the old vines and the nourishment of the superb soil, PJ Astruc produces full and powerful bunches. This translates into a full-bodied yet incredibly soft red wine.
Astruc's dream
Jean Astruc had only one dream: to own his own wine estate. This dream became a reality in 1862 with the acquisition of twelve hectares of vineyard in Malras. His son shared the same ideal and, despite the economic crisis and his departure for the battlefields of World War I, continued to acquire land. In the 1950s, his son Pierre took over Domaine Astruc again. By then, it encompassed over thirty hectares of vineyards and the means to exploit them. Since then, the winery has continued to grow and has evolved into a modern winery, pressing grapes from over 400 hectares of vineyards. In 2003, Les Domaines' owner and winemaker, Paul Mas, came into the picture. He had been working with the Astruc family for a long time and decided to purchase the estate. The winery offers something for everyone, from traditional to modern wine styles, for both novice and experienced wine lovers.Enjoy this garnet-red wine from Domaine Astruc
This red wine is a blend of Carignan, Grenache, Merlot, and Syrah. All grapes are vinified separately. After the grapes are harvested and rigorously selected, a short maceration period takes place for the Merlot and Grenache grapes. The Carignan and Syrah undergo a six- to eight-day maceration period. After fermentation, the wines are blended and aged for at least four months in stainless steel tanks. The result is a garnet-red wine with aromas of raspberries, red cherries, a touch of rose, and a hint of sweet jam. The palate is soft, with a strong emphasis on fresh red and black fruit. On the back of the tongue, it has a blend of toffee and a hint of blueberry. A delicious pairing with chicken.Product details
