The Lagrein grape variety is used for both red and rosé wine. Lagrein is a grape from Italy, and this variety is actually unique to this country. Italy is therefore proud of the Italian wines made with it. Few countries breathe wine more than Italy. Lagrein is used by a limited number of winemakers. The Andrian winery comes to mind, as do Tramin, Tiefenbrunner, Madonna Delle Vittorie, and Mezzacorona. The most popular wine made with this Lagrein is the Andrian Rubeno Lagrein. With the Andrian Rubeno Lagrein, the cooperative winery Andrian has created a solid and characteristic South Tyrolean Lagrein, whose grapes come directly from the classic Gries growing zone in Bolzano. Another example is the Tiefenbrunner Turmhof Vernatsch. This wine optimally utilizes the potential of the Schiava grape. Another top performer is Tramin Lagrein Rosso Alto Adige. Three hundred small winegrowers are members of the Cantina Tramin Kellerei cooperative.
