The story of this Martin Codax wine feels almost fairytale-like. The Cuatro Pasos vineyard is owned by the magnificent Martin Codax winery and is located in the picturesque Spanish province of Bierzo, near the villages of Otero and Villadecanes. Walking through the vineyards, the whole experience feels idyllic. It has a mysterious and magical quality. Martin Codax's winemaker once walked through the vineyards and discovered four bear footprints. This inspired him: Cuatro Pasos means four steps.

A Spanish rosé wine

The four footprints also represent the four key steps in the winemaking process. First, the selection of the land. The area where the grapes grow is very mineral-rich, perfect for planting vines. The second step is proper care of the vines. Finally, the perfect climate is also crucial for the beautiful Cuatro Pasos Mencia Rosé. The final step is the vinification of the grapes. Because fermentation takes approximately 12 to 14 hours, this Martin Codax Cuatro Pasos Mencia Rosé acquires its attractive color.

What does this wine from Martin Codax taste like?

This rosé wine is unlike any other. While the wine often has a light salmon pink color, this one has a much darker appearance. Don't let that fool you, though. The dark color comes from the skin of the Mencia grape, which releases a tremendous amount of color. The flavor remains wonderfully refreshing in the pleasant summer sun. Think of abundant raspberries, wild strawberries, and fresh cherries. Furthermore, Martin Codax Cuatro Pasos Mencia Rosé has a floral character, making it a perfect accompaniment to a delicious salad.
