This Châteauneuf du Pape is a Guigal gem, a truly great wine. The 45-year-old vineyard now produces truly beautiful bunches, ripe, powerful, and highly aromatic. All of this is reflected in the aroma and taste of this Châteauneuf du Pape. The Guigal family has twenty-nine hectares of vineyards, which they cultivate with great love, because, as winemakers Marcel and Philippe Guigal say, "without love, no great wine." Well, this red wine resembles a wonderful marriage; the five grape varieties from which this red is made are perfectly harmonized.

24 months of wood aging for Guigal Chateauneuf du Pape

The Guigal winery was founded in 1946 in the picturesque village of Ampuis. It is a small family business that has grown over the years into a world-renowned winery in the Rhône region. Guigal cultivates its wines with the utmost respect for the environment. The winery is currently run by Philippe Guigal, the third generation of the family and the house's chief oenologist. The vineyards for Guigal Châteauneuf-du-Pape have an average age of 50 years and are planted in red clay soils and rocky outcrops. The climate is Mediterranean, warm, and dry. This Châteauneuf-du-Pape is produced according to the traditional methodology. It ferments at a controlled temperature and macerates with the skins for three weeks. Once fermented, the wine is aged for a full 24 months in foudres.

What does Guigal's Chateauneuf du Pape taste like?

It presents itself in the glass with a striking red color and an intensely fruity and spicy aroma. The flavor is powerful, complex, full, and broad; a robust, well-aged wine, perfectly suited to accompany venison, jugged hare, and wild boar. This wine has a well-deserved reputation among connoisseurs and is one of Guigal's flagship wines.
