Cascina Ghercina Langhe Rosso

This red wine from the Langhe region is a blend of 50 percent Barbera, 30 percent Nebbiolo, and 20 percent Dolcetto. All of these are cultivated with great care, ultimately resulting in a magnificent wine.

The Cascina Ghercina winery

Cascina Ghercina Winery was taken over by Paolo and Guido Sartirano in 2002. The two brothers wanted to create a fine selection for wine lovers with a passion for high-quality, traditional Piedmont wines. And that's precisely how these wines are made: according to Piedmontese winemaking tradition. The brothers' values ​​are: respect for the terroir, the constant quest for excellence, and authentic passion. They now combine these values ​​with modern technology. The vineyards are located around Lake Chercina in the renowned Langhe wine region, which is also where the name comes from. This location is exceptionally well-suited for vines. The lake creates a special microclimate that influences the surrounding vineyards. This gives the grapes very special characteristics, which they strive to preserve during vinification.

The vinification of Cascina Ghercina Langhe Rosso

The grapes are destemmed and crushed, then fermented under controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks. The grapes then undergo eight days of skin maceration, with daily pumping of the must. Malolactic fermentation is followed by 12 months of aging in French oak barriques.

Cascina Ghercina has managed to capture a wonderful aroma in this red Langhe Rosso, with beautiful aromas of small black fruit complemented by spices and vanilla.
