Nero D'Avola, a grape that thrives in the Sicilian sun. This red wine from Baglio Gibellina is from the Sogno del Sud organic winery, one of the best-selling series from this beautiful winery in Sicily. Nestled among the elegant and historic buildings is the modern winery surrounded by vineyards. Besides the vineyards, Baglio Gibellina is also rich in ancient olive trees that grace the beautiful landscape. As mentioned, the Sogno del Sud winery is entirely organic. This requires a lot of extra work in the vineyards, but the results are certainly evident in the exceptionally pure wines.

Organic Nero D'Avola

The Nero D'Avola grapes for this Italian red wine are grown with the utmost care by the winemaker and his team. This red grape loves the Italian sun and warmth. To ensure they ripen slowly, it's important that the grapes receive some coolness. Because the Nero D'Avola grapes are planted at a higher altitude, they receive sufficient coolness from the evening breeze that blows through the vineyards. At perfect ripeness, the grapes are hand-picked in the early morning. Because the harvest takes place early in the morning, the grapes are still dormant. This makes the skins more resistant to any bruising on the way to the winery and prevents oxidation. Once at the press, the grapes are pressed and vinified in steel tanks. After bottling, the wine will age in the bottle for several months before the winemaker releases the red wine.

The taste of the Baglio Gibellina Sogno del Sud Nero D'Avola

Wow, where to begin with this fine red wine? Upon pouring, we're immediately captivated by the beautiful, clear, deep ruby color. As soon as our nose touches the glass, our minds are transported to Sicily. The delicious, sunny aromas of forest fruits and wild strawberries dance gracefully through the glass. This translates into a red wine bursting with hints of cassis, blackcurrant, a touch of spice, and a silky smoothness. The finish is full and intense, truly leaving you wanting more!
