In October 2018, the Tommasi family launched their new luxury wine brand, "De Buris." This project, on which they have been working for 18 years, includes a high-quality Amarone winery and a historic villa, which is being completely restored into a luxury residence with the aim of promoting the historical and cultural heritage of the Valpolicella region. In 2000, the Tommasi family acquired De Buris, the oldest villa in the Valpolicella region, and a 10-hectare vineyard called La Groletta. Only 1.9 hectares of this vineyard (the highest part) are dedicated to the production of De Buris Amarone Riserva. The vineyard is situated at an altitude of 300 meters, facing southwest, enjoys long hours of sunshine, a cooling breeze from Lake Garda, and poor soil consisting primarily of clay and limestone. This makes it the ideal location for producing top-quality Amarone.

The best Amarone wine is this De Buris Amarone Riserva

The Buris Amarone Riserva 2008 is a blend of Corvina (62%), Corvinone (25%), Oseleta (8%), and Rondinella (5%). The grapes are hand-harvested, brought to the estate, and placed on bamboo racks to dry using the appassimento method. Normally, the grapes for an Amarone dry for 100 days. The Buris dries for two weeks longer, resulting in a loss of 50% of the juice instead of 40-45%. This further concentrates the aromas. After drying, the grapes are pressed, and fermentation takes place in large Slovenian oak barrels with natural yeast. The wine is aged for five years in large 1500- and 300-liter oak barrels. After bottling, the wine rests in the bottle for one more year before being released. The result is a full-bodied and wonderfully well-structured wine with soft tannins, layered flavors, complexity and elegance, aromas of fresh fruit, and a beautiful, long finish. With a very limited production run (approx. 8,000 bottles), this is truly a special, luxurious wine from the finest Amarone vineyards in Italy, planted exclusively for this wine.
