Vintage Report

The 2021 vintage in Alsace has been rated by Robert Parker with a score of 89-92 points. The wines from this year are described as youthful and have excellent potential to slowly mature.
The Marcel Deiss Langenberg is an exceptional white wine produced from the fertile and complex soils of the Langenberg vineyard near Saint Hyppolyte in Alsace. Situated on sunny slopes, this vineyard boasts a unique soil composition of weathered granite, low in nutrients. This forces the vines to root deeply, resulting in a wine of exceptional complexity and a subtle saline minerality. Several grape varieties, including Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Beurot, Muscat, and Pinot Noir, are grown in this vineyard, all blended together. This creates a harmonious blend of flavors that perfectly reflect the unique characteristics of the terroir.

Unique winemaking at Marcel Deiss

The Marcel Deiss winery stands out for its strong commitment to showcasing terroir and its progressive approach to winemaking. The Langenberg is a beautiful example of their craftsmanship. Here, they combine the principles of interplanting different grape varieties and biodynamic farming to create wines with deep and complex flavors. This wine is more than just delicious to drink; it's an adventure in itself, a journey that takes you to the historic terraces of Saint Hyppolyte, where each grape variety contributes to a unique and harmonious whole. After careful harvesting, the grapes are gently pressed, and then the fermentation process begins with natural yeasts. Finally, the wine is aged on the lees for 12 months, which enhances its natural characteristics. This creates a wine that is both complex and pure on the nose, with subtle aromas of white fruit and honey, surrounded by a distinct minerality.

The impressive taste of Marcel Deiss Langenberg

The Langenberg is a true expression of finesse and elegance. On the palate, the wine is aromatic, long-lasting, and refreshing, with an interesting salty note that adds a unique touch. The palate is very balanced and lively, with a fine, taut texture, a glossy finish, and a precise aftertaste. This is a wine that excels in precision, with impressive acidity that ensures a long and captivating finish.
