Organic Carl Ehrhard Back to the Roots Riesling Feinherb
The Organic Carl Ehrhard Back to the Roots Riesling Feinherb is a pure, slightly off-dry Riesling from Rüdesheim in the Rheingau. What does Feinherb mean for Riesling? Feinherb indicates a subtly off-dry style, in this case with approximately 7.5 grams of residual sugar, where the wine is just a touch off-dry but supported by slender, fine acidity.
With 10.5% alcohol, this Riesling remains light-footed and refined, while maintaining its structure and tension.
Origin: Rüdesheim, Roseneck "Unterer Platz"
The grapes come from the 35-year-old Roseneck vineyard on the "Unterer Platz" mountain in Rüdesheim.
-
Rüdesheim, Rheingau: classic core area for quality Riesling.
-
Roseneck, Unterer Platz: 35-year-old vines.
-
Very late and selective manual harvest: only healthy grapes.
-
Limited production of approx. 1,000 bottles: small-scale and terroir-driven.
This combination results in a Riesling with precision and clear origin expression.
Grape and vinification
Riesling – Roseneck "Unterer Platz", Rüdesheim
Riesling is known for its high natural acidity and aromatic finesse.
Fermentation takes place spontaneously in wooden barrels. The wine then matures for a long time on the fine lees in wood and is filtered only once. No fining agents are used, so that the character of the vineyard is fully preserved. The wine is organically produced and is classified as a natural wine.
Character and style
In the glass, this Riesling shows a refined, pure style. The slight residual sweetness is perfectly balanced by fine acidity, keeping the wine fresh and vibrant. The combination of ripe grapes, spontaneous fermentation, and long lees aging provides extra depth and texture without loss of elegance.
Serve around 8–10 °C to allow its freshness and balance to fully unfold.
