A glass of wine that embodies the versatility of Joseph Mellot. This winery is capable of much more than just producing sublime Sancerre wines. This passion has been there from the very beginning, and for a long time. The Joseph Mellot winery was founded in 1513 (!) by its eponymous owner in the village of Sancerre. At the time, it was a small village in the Loire Valley, but today it's one of the most famous towns. For years, they cultivated wines primarily from the Sauvignon Blanc grape. In the 1920s and 1930s, they began focusing on specialized regions, one of which is Pouilly Fume.

The vineyards of Pouily Fume Les Troncsec

Joseph Mellot Pouilly Fume Les Troncsec is made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes. These are grown in the "Les Troncsec" vineyards located in the village of Saint Laurent L'Abbaye, about 15 kilometers east of Sancerre, on the other side of the Loire River. Pouilly Fume is known for its smoky, expressive character, as is Joseph Mellot Pouilly Fume Les Troncsec. This is partly due to the soil composition, a unique interplay of flint, limestone, and clay—a unique combination. This Joseph Mellot wine offers a special experience that is not to be missed.
