Vintage Report

2024 is een zeer jonge jaargang voor Central Valley, Chili. Wijnen van dit type worden doorgaans vroeg gebotteld en zijn bedoeld voor directe consumptie, waarbij de frisheid en het fruitige karakter centraal staan.
Khipu Sauvignon Blanc is an excellent example of a pure and refreshing Sauvignon Blanc. The vineyards are located in the Central Valley, a large and renowned wine region in Chile, home to many wonderful wines. The grapes for Khipu Sauvignon Blanc come from vineyards at the foot of the Andes in the Maule and Curico Valleys, which, thanks to their southern location, are wonderfully fresh. This climate preserves the pure, fresh character so important to a good Sauvignon Blanc. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand and carefully destemmed before being fermented and aged in stainless steel vats to preserve the wine's freshness.

The old Sauvignon Blanc vineyard of Khipu

The name Khipu derives from the word Quipu, a means of communication used by the Incas during their travels through the Central Valley, where the Khipu winery is also located. For centuries, the purpose of this line of strings and knots remained a mystery. Only a few decades ago did researchers discover their use for communication between Inca warriors. The label of Khipu wines features these knotted strings as a tribute to the Incas, who are inextricably linked to Chile.

The aroma and taste of Sauvignon Blanc

The Khipu Sauvignon Blanc has a pale yellow color with a fresh green sheen. The aroma reveals subtle aromas of passion fruit, grapefruit, freshly mown grass, and light mineral notes. The palate offers delightfully fresh flavors, with lovely nuances of citrus, gooseberry, and grapefruit, and a fine, crisp finish. The wine has a beautiful, perfectly balanced acidity. This Chilean white wine pairs beautifully with dishes such as a fresh salad, shellfish, or a classic ceviche for true Chile lovers. In short, Khipu Sauvignon Blanc is a delicious wine that meets all the characteristics of a fresh and clean Sauvignon Blanc. Its Central Valley origins and tribute to the Incas make it a wine definitely worth trying.
