In 1827, Emperor Nicholas I of Russia granted the winery the status of the first specialized winery in Bessarabia. This brought great success to this magnificent Moldavian winery. A few years later, Château Purcari's wines graced the tables of no less than Tsar Nicholas II and King George V of England. Several years ago, Purcari's current owner recognized the estate's beauty. He invested in more modern winemaking techniques and devoted considerable attention to the vineyards. The quality skyrocketed, and today the wines are exquisite.
The spectacle begins as soon as we open the bottle: we smell beautiful hints of grapefruit, citrus fruit, and some hints of gooseberry. Because this Sauvignon Blanc matures in both warm and cool conditions, it's a wine with considerable depth. Its purity comes from the hand-picked grapes, ensuring that only the finest Sauvignon Blanc bunches are used to enrich the white wine. The palate is vibrant with abundant citrus fruit, some fresh exotic fruit, and a touch of mint and grapefruit. This Purcari 1827 Sauvignon Blanc is a true thirst quencher and pairs beautifully with dishes like goat cheese, sea bass, and fresh salads.
