Vintage Report
The 2023 Rioja vintage has received an excellent score of 92 points according to the Robert Parker Vintage Chart. The wines from this vintage are generally considered youthful and tannic, with excellent aging potential.
The Coto Vintage Rosado is a fantastic rosé from the Rioja region. I can already hear you thinking, "That's probably another heavy, dark rosé." Well, nothing could be further from the truth. This wonderfully complex rosé has lovely, fresh notes of strawberry and raspberry. It's anything but heavy. Production is handled by El Coto de Rioja. This winery, founded in 1970, is located in the town of Oyon, in the province of Alava. El Coto Rosado is made from 50 percent Tempranillo and 50 percent Grenache grapes. The Grenache grapes come from the Los Almendros farm in Ausejo, and the Tempranillo grapes come from the Rioja Alavesa region.
The large size of El Coto de Rioja
In the 1970s, a small group of Rioja winegrowers began the project known as El Coto de Rioja. They established themselves in Oyón, and it eventually grew into an estate with over 700 hectares of its own vineyards spread across seven locations. This size allows them to offer an optimal variety of grapes. After careful harvesting, the grapes undergo a cold maceration process of several hours. This allows the fruity aromas to fully develop. Afterward, the grapes are pressed and fermented with selected yeasts at very low temperatures to enhance the wine's powerful aroma. What does the Coto Rioja Rosado Rose taste like?
The color is pale pink, almost strawberry. The nose has a hint of fresh strawberry and caramel sweetness. On the palate, it's both fresh and sweet fruit, but the finish is dry. It's rounded out with a hint of pepper, giving the rosé a truly Spanish touch. Easy to drink and enjoy. Its refreshing character makes this rosé versatile. Enjoy it on a sunny patio, but also pair well with a barbecue, a main course or pasta salad, a lunch dish, or with seafood.Product details
