Vintage Report
The 2021 vintage in Rioja has been rated with an excellent score of 94 points by Robert Parker. The wines from this year are of high quality, but currently still youthful and tannic.
A beautiful blend of Graciano, Grenache, and Tempranillo. The grapes are grown on an estate with 40-year-old vines. The loamy soils, thanks to the Mediterranean climate, allow them to develop the perfect characteristics. This is the first wine the winery has released, resulting in an attractive, modern Rioja with pleasant tannins.
Manual harvest for the Rioja Crianza
Where Bodega Heraclio Alfaro now stands, there was also an airport. It was opened in 1919 by the eponymous Heraclio Alfaro. His fascination with aviation gave way to a love of wine, and so the estate was transformed, and he decided to plant Tempranillo, Garnacha, and Graciano. The 110-hectare estate now occupies this spot, 40 hectares of which are planted with vines. The grapes are harvested and selected by hand with great care, ensuring that only the finest grapes are used during the vinification process. After sorting, the grapes are destemmed and transported whole, without crushing, to the fermentation tanks. Fermentation lasts approximately 20 days at a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius, with the focus on extracting fruity notes. Once this is complete, the wine is aged for 16 months in French oak barrels. What does the Heraclio Alfaro Rioja Crianza taste like?
This Rioja Crianza emerges with an intense red color. Delicate aromas of red fruit and black currant complemented by notes of oak and a touch of licorice. This red wine begins with a fresh taste, beautiful structure, and above all, wonderfully balanced. Then, you'll taste the fine and elegant tannins, which are captivating and provide the perfect complexity. It continues to a lingering finish with a subtle oak note. Pairs well with stews, meat, poultry, or a cheese board. Slightly chilled, this Rioja Crianza also makes a wonderfully refreshing summer wine.Product details
