Vintage Report
The 2024 vintage in the Pays d'Oc benefited from a climate with abundant sunshine and cooling ocean winds. This led to a slow, balanced ripening of the Chardonnay grapes and an excellent harvest.
Every wine lover knows the wines of the Baron Philippe de Rothschild family. They grew up in Bordeaux, where they still produce some of the world's most exclusive wines. But the winery had more to offer and chose to produce wines in various wine regions worldwide, following their long-standing traditions. They found happiness in the Pays d'Oc wine region, where they purchased several vineyards where the family wanted to create wines that would feature the grape variety. And they succeeded: a wine series where you always taste the grape from which it was made. This is why it bears the name Les Cépages, or "single grape variety."
The harvest of the Les Cépages Chardonnay
The vineyards for this Les Cépages Chardonnay are in excellent condition in the Pays d'Oc wine region. The old vines are planted in a soil of limestone, sand, and clay, allowing the bunches to draw abundant nutrients from the soil. The abundant sunshine in the vineyards ensures the right harvest strength. The Chardonnay bunches also benefit from a cooling breeze from the ocean. This allows the bunches to ripen slowly and evenly, ultimately resulting in an excellent harvest. Harvesting is carried out by Baron Philippe de Rothschild early in the morning to prevent damage and bruising during transport. The taste of the Baron Philippe de Rothschild Chardonnay
Each vineyard is harvested separately, after which Baron Philippe de Rothschild's winemaker creates a blend between the various vineyards. This is a crucial task to ensure the strength and purity of this white wine. Upon pouring, it reveals a golden yellow color with yellow highlights. The aroma immediately reveals the Chardonnay grape, along with beautiful aromas of apricot, white peach, and, of course, exotic fruit. A touch of acacia and hints of bergamot and marshmallow linger on the palate. The palate is delightful, with plenty of soft notes of tropical fruit, along with hints of peach and vanilla. A swirl of the wine reveals notes of freshly baked nuts and a touch of custard. The finish is long and very balanced!Product details
