The 2020 vintage achieved an excellent score of 90 points for the region. However, it was an inconsistent year, resulting in varying quality even among the best wines.

Cabernet Sauvignon originated in Bordeaux. And with great success, as evidenced by the quality of Cedar Rock Cabernet Sauvignon.

A Californian red wine

Robert Mondavi was a key figure in the introduction of Cabernet Sauvignon to 'The Sunny State' and achieved great success. Now, every winery of any significance to Californian viticulture has planted Cabernet Sauvignon in its vineyards, including Cedar Rock. These vineyards are located a bit further north and relatively close to the coast. This makes the climate somewhat cooler than, for example, central California. This, combined with the perpetual sunshine, allows Cabernet Sauvignon to achieve ideal growth. And this clearly influences the final aroma and flavor of Cedar Rock Cabernet Sauvignon. Cedar Rock goes to great lengths to make Cedar Rock Cabernet Sauvignon a perfect wine. This begins in the vineyards. The winemaker grows the grapes according to the California Sustainable Winegrowing process. This not only results in a fantastic wine, but is also better for the environment. After harvest, pressing, and fermentation, the juice undergoes its unique oak aging, which defines the fine character of Cedar Rock Cabernet Sauvignon.

Impressions of Cedar Rock Cabernet Sauvignon

The length of the oak aging is a closely guarded secret of the winemaker. One thing we do know for sure: it's what creates the vibrant aroma and flavor of Cedar Rock Cabernet Sauvignon. Plenty of red fruit on the nose, with a distinct hint of vanilla. A touch of spice also emerges. But what do you taste? A touch of warm cherries. Time and again, we're treated to lush notes, revealing fine tannins, peppers, toasted oak, small strawberries, dried herbs, and sultry caramel.
