This white wine from Australia is made primarily of Chardonnay and a very small percentage of Viognier. Both grapes come from various vineyards in Victoria, a wine region in southeastern Australia. And that's the ideal place for ripening this grape variety.

Wines with an Australian concept

The Barramundi brand from Murray-Darling, Australia, is quite quirky and stands for no-nonsense wines. "Don't make life too difficult" is a motto at this winery. The winery is located at the confluence of the Murray and Darling rivers. The winery's name is the Aboriginal name for the river bass that inhabits the two rivers. The vineyards are located around Victoria, where the terra rossa soils make sunny Victoria appear even warmer than it already is. Barramundi was founded in the 1980s and developed its labels in collaboration with artist Ken Done. Since then, the company has grown significantly. Their real success lies in these cool, laid-back, hippie labels featuring the Barramundi van. Behind the wheel is the cool Aussie dog Barry, with his sights set on infinity. The Chardonnay and Viognier are processed separately. These grapes are harvested during the cool of the night to preserve the fresh character of the varietals. The wines are then stored in stainless steel and stirred on the lees to develop the right mouthfeel and structure. After this, the wines are blended and bottled.
