The 2022 vintage in Victoria has been rated an outstanding 95 points. The wines from this year are powerful and still very much in their youthful development.

Andrew McPherson is an important and colorful figure within the McPherson family. He has dedicated his entire working life to winemaking, making a significant contribution to the Australian wine industry. His favorite wine is a superb Shiraz, which he enjoys pairing with family and friends. Therefore, this spicy and rich Shiraz is dedicated to him.

8 months of wood aging for McPherson Shiraz

McPherson Wines was founded in 1968 and has since grown into a major player in the wine world. McPherson wines are exported worldwide and are synonymous with high-quality wines. The vineyards are located in Southern Australia, in Central Victoria and Murray Darling. The focus is on popular varietals such as Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Shiraz. Andrew McPherson and his wife currently manage the estate, where they oversee the state-of-the-art winery, built in 2000. Their goal remains to produce delicious wines at competitive prices. The Shiraz grapes are carefully harvested at night, allowing the character of this grape variety to be optimally preserved. The cellar utilizes modern winemaking techniques so characteristic of McPherson wines. Fermentation takes place in red fermenters, giving the wine a richer color and softer flavors. Considerable attention has also been paid to oak selection. The wine is aged for approximately eight months in French oak barrels, giving it a pleasant, but not overly oaky, influence.

Enjoy a spicy Shiraz

This Shiraz sparkles with a dark purple color in the glass. We immediately enjoy aromas of black cherry and blueberry, complemented by mixed herbs. The palate is rich with ripe blackberries and plums, with a hint of pepper. Wonderfully spicy and typical of Shiraz. This red wine pairs beautifully with rich and spicy pasta dishes or a hearty steak.
